Wild Woods Day!!

One week on (and a bit) and a little trip away and I've got internet access again! Wild Woods day was lots of fun, met lots of new people and caught up with old friends.

So a MASSIVE THANK YOU to every one who contributed to the knitted tree and helped out on the day, it looked great and we even managed to dress two extra trees!

Last Minute knitting!

Well we are almost there, Wild Woods day is tomorrow!

Jane, Christine and I went down to the woods today, and no surprises (or teddy bears) there was masses to do but we had a lovely afternoon chatting and meeting new knitters. I was delighted that new people came along with their knitting and crochet and to say hello and hopefully we'll see you again tomorrow!

Site Visit to Hockley Woods - We need your Knitting!

Last week I met up with Roxie from Rochford Arts Team to scope out the trees at Hockley Woods. We've decided that this is the tree. It's pretty big but I reckon we can dress a fair bit of it. There is also a nice little bench which would nice to dress up. This clearing is the first thing you see when you come into the festival so it'll make a big impact, everyone will realise how cool knitting is and join in, and we have a whole new generation of knitters in Essex - Job done!

As I mentioned the tree is rather large, about 200cm diameter. We tried it out with one bit of our stash of knitting and as you can see we need a lot more before the event on June 2nd- TWO WEEKS AWAY!!!

So if you're a knitter, and you'd like to show Essex that knitting isn't boring then visit the Knit something for the project page and join in!

Knitting at Greensward

This afternoon Jacci, Jane and I ran a session for the sixth form textiles students at Greensward. I was really impressed with how quickly the group picked up both finger knitting and needle knitting, and they kindly donated their efforts to the collective artwork. So thank you Greensward, hopefully see you on June 2nd at Wild Woods Day! And thank you Jacci and Jane for helping out, couldn't have done it without you  - and you event brought some knitting to add to the tree!

Knit-together

Another Friday, another Knit-together. Lots of lovely knitters came along to Rayleigh Windmill on Friday for knitting and nattering and I was amazed at how much everyone had made with the yarn they took home last week.

We were also joined by people from the local press and did interviews and photo shoots a plenty. I will upload some of the shots when they get sent through. Look out for us in 'Rochford Life' and the 'Yellow Advertiser'!

There is still loads of knitting to be done so I'm going to have a look at putting in one last knit-together before Hockley Wild Woods. Keep an eye on the blog for updates and if you would like me to contact you with session dates please e-mail me, Jess, at
essexknit-together@yahoo.co.uk. If you'd like to get involved in the project click the 'knit something for the project' and/or 'knit at the olympic torch journeyevents' pages (top right of blog page).

Here are 4 of us posing local press styley.

And here we are knitting normally!
